Estratégia de Abastecimento numa Maratona
Marathon Fuelling Strategy

A marathon isn't just a physical test; it's also a challenge of energy management. Knowing how and when to fuel your body can make all the difference between achieving a new personal best or hitting the dreaded "wall."

Before the race, ensure your energy reserves are full. In the 48 hours leading up to it, focus on a diet rich in carbohydrates and drink plenty of water. On race morning, opt for a light breakfast about 3 hours before the start, including easily digestible foods such as bread with honey or a banana.

During the race, the right time to refuel is critical. The general recommendation is to consume between 30 and 60 grams of carbohydrates per hour, starting from kilometer 8-10. Use energy gels, isotonic drinks, or even fruit, depending on what your stomach tolerates best. Combine carbohydrate intake with water to aid digestion and avoid discomfort.

After the race, don't forget to refuel. A drink rich in protein and carbohydrates helps repair muscles and replenish glycogen stores. With a well-thought-out strategy, a marathon becomes not just a challenge, but also an unforgettable experience.
